My Background

So. Where do I start ?

My name is Caine Cooksey and I’m 21 years old. I was born on the 27th December 1998 (my Mother’s late Christmas present). I live in Birmingham with my Mom, partner Ainsley, my fish Bob, Geoff and Jason, and my Hamster Mr Humphries. From the age of around 10, I have wanted to write a diary or Blog or something similar but I didn’t know where to begin. So bare with me as I haven’t a clue it may start off as an autobiography. So after being born, I lived in Erdington ‘til I was 4, I then moved to where I live now, Kingstanding. It was in November when we moved here but it wasn’t the house my Mom wanted but we soon made it a home. From then on it wasn’t plain sailing. With my dad having several affairs and arguments before he left in 2006 (I think). To me being diagnosed with Anxiety. And then my Nan’s health deteriorated from 2011 which led to me becoming her carer, until she passed away on the 19th February 2017. A week before her birthday on the 25th. She had started to black out and fall over, which knocked her confidence in walking. We were going to have my Nan move in, but I couldn’t face it if she passed away in the house. Numerous times she was going to hospital for open cuts and bruises as a result of these blackouts which led to her living in her bedroom towards the last 5 years of her life. So I and my Mom did everything from emptying her commode (sorry to people eating there dinner) to sorting her tablets. On the morning of Sunday 19th I woke up at 2am in my camp bed in my nan’s room and she was asleep (or so I thought) and then I woke up at 9.30ish and I went over. She was cold and blue. She had passed away. Her last words were ‘get that phone off charge, I pay for the electric’ (talk about famous last words ay). I rang my mom who had a panic attack and my aunt collapsed on the floor, in the front garden. I made a few jokes to lighten the mood but inside I was distraught. I had chippy the next day and went to walk to my nan’s to eat it. That’s when it hit me the most. Later that day my cousin lost her child. It felt like nothing was going right. We were sorting through my nan’s things the next day and I wanted it all. Not because it was worth anything but because it was my nan’s stuff. My Nan’s dog went to an elderly lady but I wanted her, she was a cute Shih Tzu. I knew I couldn’t as no one was in to look after her so it’d be unfair. I returned to Sixth Form the following week after my Nan’s death but it wasn’t the same. So I left after a few months with a Distinction* in Law, and an EPQ qualification (Extended Project Qualification). I went to work as a Cleaner and Housekeeper In Walsall but due to management I left last year. I currently still work in retail. As it’s great to work with people. I love listening to them and I love interacting with every walk of life. I love listening to the elderly and their stories. Some of them are so filthy minded 😆

So that’s some of my background. I hope you will enjoy my blog. It won’t be about anything in particular. It will just be about my life, from living with anxiety to my favourite meal!

Here is to my blog. Welcome everyone. Come on in and have a read!

Why now ?

Welcome and Introduction

Hello and Welcome to my blog. It may surprise you to find that me and you are pretty similar. Okay not in looks wise but in lifestyle wise. We both like takeaways, probably spill food everywhere, love sleep and eat beans with mayo in. Which is what some of the posts may contain!

Okay maybe the beans one is just me but we can’t be similar on every single way. Anyway moving swiftly on welcome to my blog. I hope you enjoy it.

Some of you may ask: What’s your blog about?
Some of you may ask: (or as I say arks) Why now?

Well there is no simple answer to either of these questions. My blog unlike many won’t just be about one certain topic. I am going to document my life as a whole, it’ll be a sort of diary and it will help me offload which may even help my anxiety.

  • Posts I will be definitely be putting up will be about Mental Health as I my self have anxiety and depression.
  • But some of the other posts will be about what I like to do,
  • What my hobbies are
  • Anything relevant to current issues (so I could be waffling about anything to be honest).
  • Some post’s may be about something that’s happening in current affairs, which I feel strong or passionate about. I am quite well known for my controversial views.
started my blog now because it just felt right to open up about my life and struggles of Mental Health. The last two or three months have really set me back with anxiety, possibly due to the Covid-19 and lockdown. I took a month off work due to stress and anxiety and went to hospital and had consultations on the phone with doctors, who decided to change my tablets from Citalopram to Sertraline. I then got myself a counsellor and since then I have been more open about my health as it’s nothing to be ashamed of.  Because I have been more open about my issues, I got invited into a group on Facebook for mental health who help anyone feeling low and are campaigning to raise more awareness and for more government research into Mental Health. By being in this group I have spoken to so many people who are struggling and I too have had people help me. So I am hoping I can give some tips or advice on how am I dealing with my health and maybe you can share some advice too.
